Salomon CityTrail Wins the Day

This past Saturday we had our first Salomon CityTrail in Chattanooga. This new run was put on by the same people who bring you the Salomon Wild Trails Race Series which benefits Wild Trails (though not technically a part of the series). We had 100+ runners running the two races, a 10k and a 30k.

The morning was a perfect fall day allowing the runners to enjoy excellent running temperatures and beautiful views of the city. The 30k trail took runners over

one of the world\’s longest pedestrian bridges, the Walnut Street Bridge, through the Chattanooga Zoo, the Main Terrain Art Park, the AT&T Stadium, home to the Chattanooga Lookouts, as well as Stringer\’s Ridge, Downtown Chattanooga\’s trail in the city.

Salomon came up with the concept of the CityTrail in an effort to bring the skills one learns on the trail into the city. They have been developing shoes that will move easily between pavement to trail. This run is also an excellent way for those who typically only run on the road to see why we typically love running on the trails.

The Salomon crew was on hand to allow runners to try out Salomon\’s line of hybrid running shoes as well as Suunto\’s new flagship watch the Ambit 3 Sport. This gorgeous watch features GPS, connects through Bluetooth to your iPhone or iPad, has route navigation, a compass—I could go on an on about the features—suffice it to say this is one smart watch and will help you with your training. Did I mention it was gorgeous? Because it is. It\’s beautiful. The first place winner of the 30k in both the male and female categories received a new Ambit 3 Sport.

As the runners crossed the finish line they were treated to a beer from Chattanooga Brewing Company and then enjoyed the beautiful Renaissance Park on the North Shore as they waited for the rest of the runners to return to the finish line.
