Everest Challenge 2023

Wild-Trails-Everest-Challenge

March 1-31, 2023

“Everesting” got its start with cycling, but is not now spreading the globe as a pedestrian experience. It’s a simple concept: climb hills until you reach the height of Mt. Everest at 29,032′. With this month-long challenge, the total amount of climbing works out to a little over 936’ per day or roughly one trip up most of our local mountains. If you do not live near Chattanooga, you can do this challenge anywhere as long as it is outside or stairs in a building. Here is a good list of Chattanooga’s best climbs:

  • 1270' King of the Mountain - from the corner of 38th & St Elmo Ave to the top of the steps at Point Park overlook.
  • 1056' High Voltage - From the Raccoon Mtn boat ramp parking lot to Split Rock trail.
  • 1398' John Smart - Skyuka springs to Scenic Highway..
  • 1329' Kiddie - Reflection Riding dirt lot to Sunset Rock parking lot.
  • 909’ Ritchie Hollow - Pot House to Pot Point trail
  • 886’ Sitton’s Gulch - Lot at the bottom to West Rim Loop trail, Cloudland Canyon.
  • Of course there are many great climbs on the Cumberland trail.

Here is How it Works:

  1. Register with the form below. The cost is $25.
  2. Send your daily results to [email protected]. All we need is the date and feet climbed.
  3. We will update a file that everyone can view as we go.

What You Get:

We will be crafting an awesome T-shirt for all finishers and we will be working on some sponsors that will likely add some SWAG. We will also have a festive gathering at the end and will plan group climbs on weekends. It is far easier to get support if we know there is good interest from the participants so please sign up early.

  • Join our Wild Trails Everest Challenge Facebook to post photos and help encourage each other.
  • Most injuries happen on the way down. This is not a test of speed! Take it easy going down.
