Wild Trails volunteers and strong trail runners Daniel Lucas and TJ Clayton handing check to Trisha King who is the Executive Director of Lula Lake Land Trust. The check for $910 was matched by an anonymous donor. This money ($1,820 total) was raised during a recent event to complete the funding needed to replace the main pedestrian bridge over Rock Creek on the main Lula Lake core property. The bridge was destroyed by a flash flood earlier in the summer. Wild Trails also awarded a $2,000 grant to Lula Lake for this project. Trisha mentioned that they were within $100 of completing the project. Daniel and TJ were responsible for coming up with this idea and did all the work to make this great event happen. Here is the wording for  invite for this fund raiser held at the Crash Pad:

Leadville to Lula Fundraiser

A Team of 10 Chattanooga trail runners have decided to challenge one of the most difficult 100 milers available. We would like to commemorate their return with a gathering that will benefit the Lula Lake Bridge Fund.

Step 1: Show Up!! & Donate $10 toward Lula Lake bridge.

Step 2: Enjoy food (including vegetarian options), from Local Pizza food truck business \”Local Slice\”, and a Craft Beer.

Step 3: Enjoy an evening with great friends and hear tall tales of climbing mountains at crazy altitudes, comparisons of injuries and who bonked the worst.

Here are a few photos showing the destruction of the bridge that stood over Rock Creek for over 20 years.
