Thunder Rock Training Runs – April 1-3, 2016
Wild Trails is organizing logistics for three training days over one long weekend to help you get better fit and familiar with the Thunder Rock 100 course. We need to be clear up front, these are not guided group runs. Please do not come if you cannot follow a printed map, ViewRanger map on your smartphone, or unless you are with someone that knows the course. All the course info you need is on the 2016 Thunder Rock 100 Race Details page which links to the Runners Guide with maps, pace chart and ViewRanger maps. You will be running in some of the most remote areas in the southeast and getting lost could lead to serious problems.
Where Do We Stay?
We will all meet at Raft One the first morning of each run at 8AM. We will then all drive our own vehicles to the finish of the run and then Raft One will give us a ride to the start of the run of your choice. View all the Thunder Rock Training Run details here to see daily route options and more. Again, these are not guided group runs. Your car will be at the finish and if you get lost, you are on your own to get back to your car. We all will bunk at Raft One each night. You must carry all of your running provisions for that day.
Cost
The cost is $10 each day for transportation or only $20 each day for the use of the Raft One bunkhouse, including showers, and transportation…sweet deal. You are welcome to come and run only individual days if you like. All the food is on your own. There is a fridge and microwave available, and we will have a double burner camp stove. There are several restaurants and a grocery store near.
Reservations Are Required
Reservations are required this year. We really need to know what size of bus or buses we will need. Please call Raft One to secure your seat and/or bunk at 888-RAFT-ONE (888-723-8663).
