Randy (alone with his support team) will be traveling the length of Tennessee in an effort to raise awareness and money for the sport of Stand Up Paddle Boarding. Please donate. *Note: Funds will go to Road Runners Club of America, Wild Trails\’ parent organization and 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
Stand up paddle boarding is one of the fastest growing sports for several reasons: this low impact sport is an athletic, complete body workout anyone can enjoy wherever there is water, it gives one a spectacular vantage point to view nature, and you can take your dog. In addition, it\’s great for groups or kids or groups of kids, you can participate in it year around—we could talk all day just about the benefits associated with Stand Up Paddle boarding, but we won\’t.
There are several things in Chattanooga that need attention in order for more people to enjoy the sport and that\’s where we can help. Randy is going to SUP the State to draw attention to this awesome sport in an effort to raise money in three areas: 1) $7,500 to construct hand carry water craft lockers. 2) $4,000 for equipment to clear the trails around an estimated additional 77 miles of creeks. 3) $5,000 to purchase a 15-person passenger van and a board trailer to offer a low cost shuttle service to give our community the luxury of finishing the paddle trip at you own car.
This epic 7-day adventure begins in Cumberland Gap, KY on August 16 and finishes in Bridgeport, AL on August 22. Along the the 290-mile journey, Randy will SUP through Powell River, Norris Lake, Clinch River, Tennessee River, Watts Bar Lake, Chickamauga Lake, and Nickajack Lake. Check out the route.
